Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters

Public access to Sky Muster Satellite Services

Under the Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters (STAND) program, $7 million has been dedicated to deploying NBN Co Sky Muster satellite services across Australia. These services provide an extra layer of telecommunications backup for evacuation centres and regional emergency service sites when local phone and NBN services are down during emergency events. At publicly available sites, the community can utilise wifi to access the NBN network and keep connected with friends and family.

Important Note

This map should be used for illustrative purposes only and should not be relied upon in an emergency or natural disaster. Sites appearing here may not be utilised during an emergency event. Visit emergency service organisation websites in your State and Territory or tune in to the local radio, local ABC/emergency broadcaster frequency for information on the location of evacuation and relief sites. If planning to go to an evacuation centre, leave early and not at the last minute as roads may be cut off and there is a much higher risk of harm due to smoke, flames, noise, heat and having to navigate around emergency service vehicles responding to the emergency.

Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters
Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters Public access to Sky Muster Satellite ServicesUnder the Strengthening Telecommunications Against Natural Disasters (STAND) program, $7 million has been dedicated to deploying NBN Co Sky Muster satellite services across Australia.
