The road Asset Registers provide detailed information on the dimensions, construction and condition of each 100m segment of road. The Heavy Vehicle Infrastructure Ratings (HVIR) give an overview of level of service provided to heavy vehicle operators across various road categories.

This guide provides more detail on how roads were categorised and how the ratings were developed.

AssetRegister contains information supplied by the Australian States & Territories as part of the COAG Heavy Vehicle Road Reform 2017 and 2018 Asset Registers. It includes most State & Territory managed roads with data at fine grained 100m segments, but no metadata was collected from the States & Territories. There is therefore no record of actual dates or methodology of collection, nor the processing methodologies used or whether these were consistent across locations. Data quality has room for improvement. However, as of June 2019 this data appears to be the best known coverage of managed road data across Australia in a single source. For more up to date data or for data from a particular location, and higher quality metadata, we suggest checking open data at https://data.gov.au/ or engaging directly with data owners.

This dataset is a harmonised version of the 2017 and 2018 Asset Registers and Heavy Vehicle Infrastructure Ratings spreadsheets from State and Territory road managers, allowing for detailed inspection and visualisation of selected values for State and Territory managed roads for 2017 and 2018.
HVRR_ASSETREGISTER_WEB
AssetRegister", "IRI", "AADT", "HVRR"
Map Service
ArcGIS", "ArcGIS Server", "Data", "Map Service", "Service"
[ [ 113.542340000209, -43.4318410003349 ], [ 153.562209001166, -10.5745599998093 ]
E308
WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere
States & Territories of the Commonwealth of Australia
