PUMP complements the Mobile Black Spot Program, providing grant funding to mobile network operators and infrastructure providers to deploy new mobile phone infrastructure to address mobile reception and coverage issues in peri-urban areas.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The program targets long standing mobile coverage and reception issues in the peri-urban fringes of Australia's major cities, including on the underserved fringes of large regional cities like Geelong, the Gold Coast, and Newcastle.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The peri-urban fringe is where the bush meets the edges of the suburbs, creating natural disaster risks for those living and working in those areas. Description: This layer is used in the National Audit of Mobile Coverage Web Map.This dataset has been derived from a number of different national and or state key road datasets. The road datasets include the National Land Transport Network as determined by the Minister in the National Land Transport Network Determination 2020 under the National Land Transport Act 2014, Key Freight Routes roads and sections of the Roads of Strategic Importance that connect or close gaps in this derived road network. Some roads have been provided by State and Territory Government agencies in consultation with the Department, or identified by the Department based on its knowledge of local conditions and existing issues with mobile coverage.There are about 180,000 km of major roads in regional, rural and remote Australia where Accenture will conduct drive testing of mobile coverage. Each road will be tested each year for three years until 30 June 2027.A 500m buffer either side of the roads was created for this layer. Road segments have been used from Open Source (OSM) road layers.
