description: <div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p style='margin:0 0 0 0;'><span>The Regional Development Australia (RDA) Program is a Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA) initiative. There are 53 RDAs across Australia, including the Indian Ocean Territories Regional Development Organisation Inc. Apart from in Victoria, the RDAs are Incorporated bodies under each states legislation. When the RDA Program commenced in 2009 boundaries were aligned to LGA boundaries. This was a DITRDCA decision – RDA boards do not determine boundaries, however can submit boundary change requests to the Minister with oversight of the RDA Program. Some LGA boundaries have changed over time and these have been redistributed to the appropriate RDA region.</span></p><p style='margin:0 0 0 0;'><span /></p><p style='margin:0 0 0 0;'><span>In 2021, the Western Australian government changed the boundaries of their Regional Development Commission’s (RDC) which included the realignment of the Shire of Wiluna from the Mid West Gascoyne RDC to the Goldfield’s Esperance RDC. </span></p><p><span>In 2023, Further adjustments have been made to the RDA boundaries, specifically </span><span>:</span><span /></p><p><span>NSW</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Murrumbidgee LGA will be completely aligned with RDA Riverina; </span></p></li><li><p><span>the MidCoast LGA will be contained within RDA Mid North Coast</span></p></li></ul><p><span>QLD</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Boulia LGA will be completely aligned with RDA Central and Western Queensland.</span></p></li></ul><p><span /></p><p><span style='font-weight:bold;'>These boundaries are effective from 31 March 2024</span></p><p><span>In 2024</span><span>, Further adjustments have been made to the RDA boundaries, specifically </span><span>:</span></p><p><span>NSW</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Southern Inland and ACT will be merged, along with the Eurobodalla and Bega</span><span> </span><span>Valley Local Government Areas (LGAs), to form a new Southern NSW and ACT</span></p></li><li><p><span>The Shoalhaven LGA will be incorporated into Illawarra. The RDA will be renamed Illawarra Shoalhaven, which will also provide services to JBT.</span></p></li></ul><p><span>QLD</span></p><ul><li><p><span>Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast </span><span>Are to be merged </span><span>as the characteristics of these regions are sufficiently similar. The new RDA will be renamed RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast</span></p></li></ul></div></div></div>
